Watercolor painting of a bird specimen from the Field Museum's collection. This piece, which was done early 2022, was pivotal in my understanding for watercolor, as the techniques used and taught showed me how to get rich layers and colors, without compromising the paper. The key here, was also the paper itself used, which was Lanaquarelle 300 lbs hot press paper. This was provided generously by my professor at the time and Field Museum artist in residence, Peggy Macnamara. The quality of paper used in watercolor will make a drastic difference in what can be achieved, as is the ability to learn to work with the chaos that watercolor seems to exude. The size is 11 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches.
