A scientific illustration of a sockeye salmon, done in primarily watercolor and finished up with prismacolor pencils. I really have learned to appreciate the importance of salmonids, as well as their beauty over the last few years, but sockeyes always stood out to me over other salmonids, including other salmon, due to their intensely rich and deep colors. The deep and vibrant red of their body is always so fun to try to capture, and I find over time, I get better at it. The size is 15 by 23 inches.
