This piece is a study of a trio of bird specimen from the Field Museum archive. It is not considered complete, but I found that this was a good midpoint in the process to show what a piece looks like while it is being worked on. Yellow Specimen are always more of a challenge to work on, as my style always counts on placing the opposite color in which you see as an undertone, but with bright yellows, theres a balance to find to find the appropriate mixes of undertones without it dulling it too much. Not enough undertones leads to it being way too flat. Either way, always a fun challenge. The size is 11 by 15 inches.
